HIV Patient Story

Treating HIV With Your Lifestyle in Mind

HIV patient R.L. of Richardson began seeing Serge Lartchenko, M.D. at Texas Infectious Disease Institute in early 2015. As a busy executive with an events and meetings firm, it is important to him that his ongoing medical care is handled professionally, discreetly and, most importantly, on time. “I have been HIV positive for 27 years, but I am doing very well,” he said. “In fact, the virus has been undetectable for 15 years.”

R.L. began seeing Dr. Lartchenko at Texas Infectious Disease institute because he felt the other specialist he had been seeing for many years was no longer fully invested in his care. “I was looking for a doctor whose location was more convenient for me but also who was interested in caring for me in a proactive way,” he said.

Since seeing Dr. Lartchenko, R.L.’s drug regimen has been changed to make it more effective and more convenient for him to manage. “I used to take two pills, two times a day, and now I only take one pill,” he said. “I appreciate Dr. Lartchenko’s innovation in looking at new therapies. It’s working really well for me.”

R.L. recently purchased a home and is enjoying working on small improvement projects in his free time. He lives a quiet life with his beloved Yorkshire terrier. “I am happy with my care at Texas Infectious Disease Institute,” he said. “Now that I am an established patient, I only have to go every four months, and they have a lab located on-site which makes it very convenient for me to have all of my needs taken care of in one day at one location.”

Dr. Lartchenko works hard to provide DFW with convenient choices for their treatments. We want to provide you healthcare that works with your lifestyle.
